Dr. Carl N. Still (PhD) president of St. Thomas More College (STM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Sarah Knudson (PhD) has been appointed as the next Dean of STM for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2026.

Dr. Sarah Knudson received her Baccalaureate in Honours Social Sciences, Sociology, from the University of Ottawa (2005), while also completing some of her coursework at Lund University in Sweden. She then earned a Master of Arts (2006) and Doctorate (2012) in Sociology from the University of Toronto, and pursued a Certificate in Arabic and North African Studies from Al Akhawayn University in Morocco. During her time at the University of Toronto, Dr. Knudson was a Junior Fellow at Massey College.

Knudson is an accomplished teacher and scholar, with noted strengths in teaching, research, and student supervision. In 2012, Dr. Knudson joined STM as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology. She received tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017, then to Professor in 2026. During her time at STM, she has served two terms as Sociology Department Head and served on numerous Faculty Council committees. Dr. Knudson has also held SSHRC grants for her ongoing research on families and close relationships, and supervised the research of graduate and Honours undergraduate students in Sociology, Psychology and Interdisciplinary Studies.
