Royal Roads University has appointed Cal Roberts as Director, Business and Workforce Development, a newly established role within the university’s Partnerships and Professional Learning portfolio.

In the role, Roberts will lead efforts to grow RRU’s business-facing programming, corporate learning partnerships and workforce development initiatives. He will work with employers, industry and community partners to identify emerging workforce needs and connect them with relevant expertise, programming and applied learning opportunities across the university.

Roberts previously served as Director, Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning within RRU’s Professional and Continuing Studies unit, where he led a diverse portfolio of credit and non-credit programming, including certificates and micro-credentials, continuing education, customized learning and workforce development initiatives.

The new role brings an increased focus on building long-term relationships with business and industry and developing responsive learning solutions that address evolving workforce and labour market needs. Roberts will work across Royal Roads to connect academic and professional expertise with organizations seeking education, training and development opportunities.

Roberts brings extensive experience in program development, professional learning and strategic partnerships. His appointment supports Royal Roads’ continued focus on applied, career-relevant education and partnerships that contribute to workforce and economic development.
