BCCIE is a provincial Crown Corporation that supports the internationalization efforts of BC’s public and independent K-12 schools, public and private colleges and universities, and language schools. It promotes international education in and for BC, to enhance BC’s international reputation for quality education, and to support the international education activities of the provincial government. BCCIE works collaboratively with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, partner ministries including the Ministry of Education and Child Care and the Ministry of Jobs and Economic Growth, and with schools, districts, and institutions.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary, strategic, and collaborative leader with a demonstrated global perspective and a passion for advancing British Columbia’s international education sector. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and long-term sustainability of the organization, providing strategic direction for programs and partnerships, governance, people and culture, financial stewardship, policy development, and stakeholder relations.

The Executive Director provides provincial leadership for international education by working collaboratively with government, educational institutions, and sector partners to advance British Columbia’s international education priorities. The role serves as a trusted advisor to government and institutions, strengthens BC’s global profile through strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives, and identifies opportunities that support sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness. The Executive Director also convenes sector stakeholders around emerging opportunities and challenges, fostering alignment and collaboration in support of provincial priorities.

The position leads and supports a high-performing team while fostering strong relationships across government, academia, industry, and international stakeholders. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring effective, accountable, and results-oriented service delivery while aligning organizational priorities with government direction and sector needs. The preferred candidate will hold a graduate degree and bring a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively senior leadership experience in international education or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, leadership experience, and demonstrated achievement will be considered.

The salary for this position is $170,000 – $200,000. In addition, this opportunity is supplemented by a total compensation and benefits package working within a hybrid work model. Travel throughout BC, Canada, and abroad will be required.
