In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between 85% - 94% of the control point, based on the knowledge, qualifications and experience for the role, with exceptions in the 95% - 100% range.

An opportunity now exists to join JIBC as their Dean, School of Public Safety (SPS). Reporting to the Vice-President, Academic, the Dean, School of Public Safety (SPS) provides strategic leadership for the School to ensure the quality of programs, contribution to professional communities and clients, and to the success of students.

With a new organizational framework in place, the School of Public Safety is entering a critical phase. Shaping a clear and cohesive identity for the School, fostering alignment across teams, and reinforcing its academic and community-facing mission will be a key priority. Furthermore, the opportunities in both Fire and Safety and Emergency Management education and training are substantial, offering significant opportunities for growth. Strong organizational leadership will be essential in prioritizing initiatives that align with JIBC’s mission.

As the ideal candidate, you bring experience at a senior leadership level in post-secondary education, with relevant professional experience in development, delivery and/or oversight of training and educational programs; managing large, complex budgets and working with contracts; setting, monitoring and driving achievement of operational plans; and leading multi-level teams and managing and engaging people in a unionized environment. Past work experience in Emergency Management or Fire Safety is ideal. A relevant graduate / master’s degree (such as education, leadership) is required.
